Temple Date Ideas for Couples
When people think of date nights, they often think of dinner, movies, or trying a new restaurant. While those can be fun, some of our favorite dates have been much simpler.
A temple trip gives us the opportunity to slow down, spend time together, and focus on what matters most. Some of our best conversations have happened during the drive to and from the temple, and many of our favorite memories as a couple have been centered on temple worship.
If you're looking for meaningful ways to strengthen your relationship, here are a few temple date ideas to consider.
1. Visit a Temple You've Never Been To
Choose a temple neither of you has visited before and make a day of it.
Research the history of the temple beforehand, take pictures outside the grounds, and enjoy exploring a new area together.
The anticipation and shared experience can make the trip especially memorable.
2. Pack a Picnic
After attending the temple, find a nearby park and enjoy a simple meal together.
It doesn't need to be elaborate. Sometimes the most meaningful conversations happen when there are no distractions.
3. Create a Temple Goal Together
Sit down and make a list of temples you would like to visit as a couple.
Maybe your goal is to visit every temple in Utah, attend a temple in every state, or simply visit one new temple each year.
Having a shared goal gives you something exciting to work toward together.
4. Take a Scenic Drive
Some of the best temple trips aren't just about the destination.
Turn off your phones, enjoy the scenery, and spend time talking during the drive.
You'll often remember the journey just as much as the temple visit itself.
5. Record the Experience
After your visit, write down a few thoughts about the day.
What stood out?
What did you learn?
What memories do you want to preserve?
Looking back years later can be a powerful reminder of how the Lord has blessed your relationship.
Why Temple Dates Matter
Marriage is strengthened through shared experiences, especially experiences that bring us closer to Jesus Christ.
Temple dates provide opportunities to worship together, receive personal revelation, and build a stronger foundation for your relationship.
The memories created during these experiences often become some of the most treasured moments of marriage.
One of the reasons we created My Temple Journey was to have a place to record those experiences and remember the special moments we've shared along the way.
We hope these ideas inspire you to plan your own temple date and create memories that will last for years to come.
From our family to yours, Scott & Riah
