As of today, the temple is in the planning and approval phase, with an official site selected and an exterior rendering released, but construction has not yet begun.
A Brief History
President Russell M. Nelson announced the Spanish Fork Utah Temple during the April 2025 General Conference on April 6, 2025. The announcement reflected the continued growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah County, where several temples have recently been completed or announced to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding population.
On January 12, 2026, the Church announced the temple site at the corner of 100 South and 2550 East in Spanish Fork. The selected property spans approximately 8.7 acres, with plans calling for a multistory temple of about 80,000 square feet and an accompanying ancillary building.
On July 13, 2026, the Church released the official exterior rendering of the temple, giving members their first look at its elegant design. As of now, no groundbreaking date has been announced, and design work continues as the project moves through the planning process.
What Makes This Temple Unique?
The Spanish Fork Utah Temple will help serve one of the fastest-growing regions in Utah. Spanish Fork has long been a gateway to southern Utah County, and the new temple will reduce travel for many members who currently attend temples in Provo, Payson, Saratoga Springs, Orem, Lindon, or other nearby locations.
Plans call for an approximately 80,000-square-foot multistory temple built on an 8.7-acre site. While interior details have not yet been released, the official rendering shows a classic Utah temple design featuring a single central spire, large windows, and elegant architectural details that complement the surrounding valley and nearby Wasatch Mountains.
The temple site sits at an elevation of approximately 4,729 feet, providing beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and Utah Valley. Its location offers convenient access for members throughout southern Utah County.
