Where It's Located
The Cali Colombia Temple is under construction at the intersection of Calle 50 Norte and Avenida 4A Norte in the La Flora neighborhood of Cali, Colombia. The temple sits on a 3.14-acre site in the northern part of the city and will serve members throughout southwestern Colombia.
Because the temple is still under construction, it is not yet open for temple worship or public visits.
Getting There
The nearest major airport is Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport (CLO), which serves the Cali metropolitan area. Travelers from the United States typically reach Cali by connecting through major international gateways such as Bogotá, Panama City, or Miami before continuing on a domestic or regional flight. The temple site is approximately a 30-minute drive from the airport, depending on traffic.
A Bit of History
The Cali Colombia Temple was announced by President Russell M. Nelson during the April 2021 General Conference. It will become the third temple in Colombia, joining the Bogotá Colombia Temple and the Barranquilla Colombia Temple. At the time of the announcement, Colombia was home to approximately 210,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in nearly 250 congregations. Missionary work in Colombia began in 1966, and some of the Church's earliest members in the country lived in Cali and Bogotá.
The temple site was announced and an official exterior rendering was released on September 23, 2021. Groundbreaking and site dedication took place on March 1, 2025, with Elder Jorge T. Becerra, President of the South America Northwest Area, presiding. Construction has progressed steadily, with exterior stone cladding, the temple's portico, and ancillary buildings taking shape.
Design and Architecture
Plans call for a single-story temple containing approximately 9,500 square feet of floor space. The design features a single attached central tower and will include one instruction room, one sealing room, and one baptistry. The temple stands at an elevation of approximately 3,167 feet above sea level.
Recent construction updates show significant progress on the temple's exterior, including installation of decorative stone cladding, ornate architectural details, and the engraved inscription above the main entrance. Work is also continuing on supporting buildings across the street that will serve temple patrons.
Final Thoughts
The Cali Colombia Temple represents another important milestone in the continued growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Colombia. Once completed, it will bring temple worship much closer to members throughout the country's southwest while becoming the third operating temple in Colombia. As construction continues, future milestones—including the public open house and dedication—will be announced.
