The Caldwell Idaho Temple is one of the newest temples announced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Located in the growing Treasure Valley, the temple will provide a house of the Lord for thousands of members in southwest Idaho. Although construction has not yet begun, the announcement has been met with great excitement as the Church continues to grow throughout the state.
A Brief History
President Russell M. Nelson announced the Caldwell Idaho Temple during the April 2025 General Conference on April 6, 2025. At the time of the announcement, Idaho was home to more than 475,000 members of the Church in over 1,225 congregations, making it one of the strongest areas of Church membership in the United States.
On May 26, 2026, the Church announced the temple site at the southwest corner of West Orchard Avenue and South Florida Avenue in Caldwell. Plans call for an impressive 82,000-square-foot, multistory temple, along with an on-site meetinghouse and ancillary building. The temple is currently in the planning phase, and a groundbreaking date has not yet been announced.
What Makes This Temple Unique?
The Caldwell Idaho Temple will become the third temple in the Boise metropolitan area, joining the Boise Idaho Temple and the Meridian Idaho Temple. It is also the 11th temple announced for Idaho, demonstrating the continued growth of the Church throughout the Gem State.
One of the most notable features of the project is its size. At approximately 82,000 square feet, it will be significantly larger than many recently announced temples, allowing it to serve a rapidly growing population in Canyon County and the surrounding communities. The 19.2-acre property also provides ample room for beautifully landscaped grounds, a meetinghouse, and future growth.
Although an official rendering has not yet been released, anticipation continues to build as members look forward to learning more about the temple's architectural style and design in the coming months.
Visiting the Temple
The future Caldwell Idaho Temple will be located at the southwest corner of West Orchard Avenue and South Florida Avenue in Caldwell, Idaho. While the temple is still in the planning stages, visitors can drive by the site and watch as construction begins in the future. Once completed, the temple grounds will provide a peaceful place for worship, reflection, and beautiful photographs. The public will also have the opportunity to tour the temple during its open house before it is dedicated.
