Located in the heart of Idaho's beautiful Magic Valley, the Burley Idaho Temple is a stunning addition to the growing number of temples in the Gem State. Dedicated in 2026, it serves members throughout southern Idaho while reflecting the area's rich agricultural heritage through its architecture, artwork, and landscaping. Its elegant design and peaceful setting make it a meaningful destination for temple worship and reflection.
A Brief History
President Russell M. Nelson announced the Burley Idaho Temple during the April 2021 General Conference on April 4, 2021. Just a few months later, the Church selected a 10.12-acre site west of the Snake River in Burley.
Groundbreaking took place on June 4, 2022, with Elder Brent H. Nielson, a Burley native, presiding over the ceremony. Following a 16-day public open house in November 2025, President Dallin H. Oaks dedicated the temple on January 11, 2026, making it the 212th dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the seventh dedicated temple in Idaho.
What Makes This Temple Unique?
The Burley Idaho Temple was thoughtfully designed to reflect the character of the Magic Valley, one of Idaho's most productive agricultural regions. Throughout the temple, decorative art glass features potato blossoms and leaves, honoring one of the area's best-known crops. The interior color palette incorporates shades of blue, gold, amber, cream, peach, orange, and green, representing Idaho's farmland, open skies, and changing seasons.
The temple's artwork also celebrates the local landscape. Paintings such as Homage to the Early Burley Saints, View of Magic Valley from Mount Harrison, and Life-Giving Rain on the Magic Valley help connect visitors with the history and natural beauty of southern Idaho. Fine marble imported from Italy, bronze and crystal light fixtures, and elegant craftsmanship throughout the building create a warm and reverent atmosphere.
Standing 172 feet tall, the temple's single attached spire has quickly become one of Burley's most recognizable landmarks. Its exterior is finished with beautiful Bianco Sarda granite, giving the temple a timeless appearance that complements the surrounding landscape.
Visiting the Temple
The Burley Idaho Temple is located at 40 South 150 East in Burley, Idaho. While there is no visitors' center, arrival center, patron housing, or on-site distribution center, the beautifully landscaped grounds provide a peaceful place to walk and reflect. The temple is conveniently located just west of the Snake River and is easily accessible for visitors traveling through southern Idaho.
