Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple: History, Architecture, and Travel Guide

Where It's Located

The Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple is located at 3200 Avenida Alberto Pedro Cabrera in the Aldea Romana neighborhood of Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The temple sits on an 8.14-acre property that also includes patron housing and a distribution center, serving members throughout southern Argentina.

Getting There

The nearest major airport is Comandante Espora Airport (BHI), located just outside Bahía Blanca. The airport offers domestic flights, primarily to and from Buenos Aires. Travelers from the United States typically fly into Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) in Buenos Aires before taking a connecting flight to Bahía Blanca. The temple is a short drive from the airport.

A Bit of History

The Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple was announced by President Russell M. Nelson during the April 2020 General Conference. It was the fifth temple announced for Argentina and was planned to serve members living across the southern half of the country, where many previously traveled long distances to attend the temple.

The temple's location and an official exterior rendering were released on February 9, 2022. Groundbreaking and site dedication took place on April 9, 2022, with Elder Joaquin E. Costa presiding. Following several years of construction, a public open house was held from October 16 through November 1, 2025. The temple was dedicated on November 23, 2025, by Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, becoming the fifth dedicated temple in Argentina.

The temple serves members from numerous stakes and districts throughout southern Argentina, significantly reducing travel time for many Latter-day Saints living in Patagonia and surrounding regions.

Design and Architecture

The Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple features a single-story design with approximately 23,400 square feet of floor space. Its exterior is finished with Portuguese Moleanos limestone, giving the temple a bright, elegant appearance. A single attached tower rises approximately 98 feet above the surrounding landscape.

Inside, the temple includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry. The temple grounds also include patron accommodations and a distribution center, providing additional support for members who travel long distances to worship at the temple.

Final Thoughts

The Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple is an important addition to the growing number of temples in Argentina. By bringing temple worship closer to members throughout the country's southern region, it fulfills a long-awaited need while providing a beautiful place of worship for generations to come. Its thoughtful design, convenient location, and significance to the Church in Argentina make it a meaningful destination for anyone interested in visiting Latter-day Saint temples in South America.
