5 Reasons We Love Visiting Temples Together
Marriage is built through thousands of small moments.
Some happen during exciting milestones, while others happen during ordinary days that become meaningful because of the time spent together.
For us, temple visits have provided many of those moments.
While every couple is different, we've found that some of our favorite experiences have happened while traveling to, attending, and reflecting on time spent in the temple.
Here are five reasons we love visiting temples together.
1. It Gives Us Time Away From Distractions
Life gets busy.
Between work, responsibilities, family commitments, and everything else that fills our schedules, it can be difficult to slow down and focus on what matters most.
Temple visits give us an opportunity to step away from the noise and spend intentional time together.
2. We Create Meaningful Memories
Many of our favorite memories as a couple involve simple experiences.
The drive to a temple.
Talking about goals.
Taking photos outside the temple grounds.
Stopping for a meal afterward.
The little moments often become the memories we cherish most.
3. It Helps Us Focus on Eternal Priorities
It's easy to become consumed by immediate concerns.
Temple worship reminds us to look beyond today's challenges and focus on our long-term goals, our faith, and our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Those reminders have been a blessing in our marriage.
4. Every Temple Has Its Own Story
One thing we've enjoyed is seeing how each temple is unique.
Different architecture.
Different locations.
Different histories.
Each visit feels a little different, which makes the journey exciting and memorable.
5. We Have a Record of the Journey
One lesson we've learned is that memories fade faster than we expect.
Dates become harder to remember.
Details become blurry.
Experiences that once felt unforgettable can gradually fade over time.
That's why we believe it's important to record meaningful experiences and preserve memories while they're fresh.
Looking Back on the Journey
Years from now, we hope to look back and remember the places we've been, the lessons we've learned, and the experiences we've shared together.
Temple visits have become an important part of our story as a couple, and we're grateful for every memory we've made along the way.
That desire to preserve memories is one of the reasons we created My Temple Journey. We wanted a place to record experiences, set goals, and remember the moments that matter most.
If you're looking for a meaningful way to spend time together, we encourage you to plan a temple trip, make a memory, and record the experience.
You may be surprised by how much those simple moments mean years later.
